Secret secret I'm gonna tell on you
you turned me an ugly shade of blue
locked deep inside sealed SHUT by shame
HE SAID I WAS TO BLAME!
I feed off shame and my secret grows
now everyone knows
I want you not
Go, go from me leave me be
The secret is no longer mine to hide
Now everyone sees it on the outside
Now everyone sees it on the outside
My Mama has a gun
you better RUN!
Shame is a funny thing. Anger does a lot to run shame out of town.
ReplyDeleteWell written!
Wow. Interesting poem. Was this about a break-up with a guy? Very deep, indeed...
ReplyDeleteDo you even remember who the guy was you wrote this about?
ReplyDeleteDangerous and intriguing on a number of levels.
ReplyDeleteBeth, shame and anger are a deadly combo for a 16 year old woman/child.
ReplyDeleteTheresa, No the poem is not about a break-up but about events that took place before and after a really ugly break-up
Little Miss, Yes, I do remember the guy who this is about...We grew up together, I have now known him for 29 years. He has a horrible life. He has been married 3 times, his first child is dead becasue of him, and his only living child no longer speaks to him....Karma is a BITCH!
Slugdog, it was a very dangerous time...My Mama really did have a gun!
A mama with a gun. As Martha says, it's a "good thing".
ReplyDeleteI read your comment to Little Ms and agree...
ReplyDelete...karma is a MAJOR bitch.
Very well written poem, Funny Girl!
SMB, Yes....The gun was a very good thing.
ReplyDeleteRon, thank you. I think you are one of the best writers out there in my little blog world, so when you say that you like what I write or wrote, I feel a bit of pride.
Interesting poem. I like it
